Ruger Precision Rifle - Making it Work (Part 3)

The Support System

When I first purchased my new rifle I didn't own a front rest. I remember thinking that I would never own a front rest. I did know the importance of a good support system but I thought a front rest would make things a little too easy. In the Marine Corps we used sandbags, slings and body position techniques to help us build strong support systems.

Ruger Precision Rifle - Making it Work (Part 2)

The Reloading Starts

For me; a big part of the fun doesn't even happen at the range.  When a person decides that they want to hand load their ammo they do it for various reasons.  For me it started with the belief that it would cost less to reload and I should be able to make more accurate rounds when I reload my own ammo.

Ruger Precision Rifle - Making it Work (Part 1)

The Purchase

In March 2017 I purchased what I hoped would be a very accurate rifle.  It was a 2nd generation black rifle with an adjustable stock that had an external magazine and it had an appetite for 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition.

Modifying the Bald Eagle Rest - Windage Adjustment

Note: The instructions on this page are for the right hand shooter

Background

The Bald Eagle Rest is an affordable option for those that want to start competing in Bench or F-Class Open type shooting.  If we have people that are competing that like the rest then it is probably a good choice for people that don't compete but want to try shrinking their groups with a good front rest.

I purchased the Bald Eagle Rest with the Windage adjustment option.  When I turned the Windage adjustment knob I noticed that movements were not consistent.  After modifying my rest I was very happy with the results.  The operation was smooth and precise in either direction.  If you are not happy with your Windage cable operation give this inexpensive modification a try.

Print Your Paper Targets In Color

Color is Cool!

Today I want to write a little bit about printing paper targets on Astrobrights Neon colored paper. This 24lb paper has a nice card stock feel to it.  I had no issuues running it through my HP Inkjet Printer and the colors make for some nice looking targets.

For this test I used 5 paper colors.  I love the results; looking at them makes me want to go out and punch some holes.

Targets with a Twist

Our Vision

Part of my vision for this project is to give users the ability to print targets that match their equipment and skill level.  I hope all of us strive to improve.

Collecting Target Data

A big part of my vision includes a way to capture target data from real people that shoot our targets.
